Mapathon- Winter 2024

On April 4th 2024, 157 students came together to participate in a 3 hour long Mapathon. Over the course of this time, the students worked together to map over 7,000+ geographical features in 11 different countries around the world. The goal was to produce detailed maps "to support vulnerable communities around the world by improving their online maps for better community resilience and health." (BYU Geospatial lab). "This project supports the Humanitarian OpenStreetMaps Team (HOT), whose work is global in scale and contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)."
The mapathon was supported with the tagline "Map the world. Serve the world."
